What Our Customers say

Today was amazing, by far my favorite day in Costa Rica. Mauricio was a great guide and made everyone feel comfortable. Water repelling was probably the most exciting things I have ever done. I´m glad I choose Outdoor Adventures!

Description

Take the road less traveled while enjoying the very best adventures that Costa Rica has to offer. With Outdoor Adventures' Reef & Forest Discovery you will find yourself exploring mysterious caves, canyoneering pristine waterfalls, mountain biking or horseback riding around an amazing volcano, touring forest canopies from over 250 ft, basking in natural hot springs, and diving or snorkeling in beautiful blue water at Isla del Caño.

We also offer optional activities for this Adventure package, which include Bungee Jumping, Sea Kayaking, and a second visit to the Hot Springs.

We start the trip with a visit to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, where you can dare yourself to bungee jump from an 80 m/265 ft bridge, one of the highest bridges used for this purpose in the world. But don't worry, even if you decide not to jump there is a cave awaiting you just around the corner, in the countryside of Costa Rica. The Venado Cave is located in a small, easy-going town of the same name. At night, you can relax and enjoy the hot springs - with the possibility that Arenal Volcano will roar into life - and you will experience its awesome power with all of your senses. ("And that was just day 1…" Catherine Sullivan, Boston, USA)

On the second day we will customize the adventure to your liking, with options of Canyoneering or Mountain Biking… or both! From there, we will move on to visit the magnificent La Fortuna Waterfall, which is 120ft/60m tall. The journey to the entrance of the La Fortuna Waterfall site can be done either on horseback or by vehicle - as you prefer. At night, there is yet another opportunity to relax your muscles in Costa Rica's natural Hot Springs while hoping to see Arenal Volcano erupt into the starlit sky.

The next morning, after a delicious, locally-made breakfast we take the bumpy road to Monteverde and its Cloud Forests, and - depending on the weather conditions - we can take the bumpier one… just for a little bit more fun! Once there, we will embark on the world famous Costa Rican Adventure: the Canopy Tour - where you can explore the mysterious Cloud Forest from the birds' perspective.

Now that we have seen the interior, it is time to explore the Southern coastal attractions of Costa Rica. Playa Uvita, where the Parque Nacional Marino Ballena is located, will be our resting spot and operations base for the next few days. After we get to this beautiful seaside park, we can relax in the sunshine or seek out more adventure: Snorkeling, Diving or Sea Kayaking are just a few of the activities that we suggest. Of course we can just take a leisurely walk around this real Costa Rican community, and learn how locals are preserving the environment as well as the culture.

After a good night's sleep in our cozy hotel, we will awake early to get to the small riverside community of Sierpe, from which we will take the boats that bring us to Isla del Caño (Caño Island.) After traveling via the biggest river in Costa Rica, and passing one of the biggest mangrove preserves of Central America, we arrive at the sparkling water of the island. Here, our guests can choose their adventure, where some snorkel in the shallow waters or to walk through the Isla del Caño Biological Reserve, there are Indigenous Burial places and artifacts. Those who chose to scuba dive will have opportunities for two immersions, and with them the possibilities to enjoy uniquely beautiful places and underwater wildlife, in a diving spot known for its excellent visibility.

On our last day of tour, we will relax and enjoy the beach, and after lunch we will head back to San José, where we take you to the comfort of your hotel. If you are looking for a cultural adventure before you leave, we will bring you and your new group of friends to the best places around town for safe and fun local nightlife.

After the tour, we're always happy to provide other, optional activities like White Water Rafting in the Pacuare River - rated among one of the best 5 rivers in the world - or participating in the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfalls tour - or spend a few extra days on another of our multi day tours with different offerings.
